Group Based Exercise

At the Danville Family YMCA, there are many opportunities for personal growth through group exercise. Group Exercise is proven to keep motivation high and bring results. We have a wide variety of classes from high energy dance and cardio classes to strength training classes, cycle, yoga, and more! Try a class or if you already are a regular, try something new!

Class Details

Cardio Based Classes

Zumba/Line Dance – Latin based and modern rhythms get you moving. Line Dance involves well known songs and moves for a cardio blast.

Extreme Hip Hop Step – Lively cardio dance class set to great hip hop beats!

Step Mix – step aerobics and weight training assure a complete workout.

Cycle – an hour on the bike to improve cardio endurance and all over leg strength.

Cycle 30 with abs – shorter riding time with core conditioning to follow.

Cardio Kick – Cardio driven workout that incorporates cardio, kickboxing, and more

Butt/Legs/Tummy (BLT) – a mixture of toning for the entire lower body and cardio strength exercises to tone up ‘trouble’ spots.

Stretch | Core Based | Specialty Classes

Core Strong (Formerly Pilates) – a core-based strength workout that targets muscles that inspire great posture and core strength.

Yoga – a stretch-based workout that increases flexibility and strength and increases your sense of balance.

Wing Chun Self-Defense – Learn to protect yourself while getting a great workout in.

Strength Based Classes

H.I.I.T. – High Intensity Interval Training, held in the Group Training Studio – get into this boot camp/interval feel class with intense moves to get results. Great trainers will lead you to your personal best.

Group Power – a periodized, multi-rep muscle training workout set to a great beat.

Weights in Motion (WIM) – a full body workout that uses weights to get results in all muscle groups.

Boot Camp –a specialty chance for an intense, full-body workout with traditional moves and innovations to improve overall fitness.

Bar Boot Camp – Think boot camp class, but with a heavy bar thrown in the mix! Lots of strength training to music with a focus on getting stronger and building endurance

Special Population Classes

Senior Fit – a great chair based workout for the older adult population. Energy, movement, and strength combine in this great workout.
